Puit’s book may be full of police transcripts and stuff, but they cant just take the book into court, toss it on the bench and say, “here ya go, judge……its all in here….” those people have to testify about what they said, and we all know what happens to testimony that happens over a year after the original interviews….witnesses forget, get stupid, get dumb, they die…shit happens…

Those witness statements in Puits book, collected at the jail or through his other sources from interviews, are useless unless those declarants are put on the stand and testify about it at the trial.

Now, that Duke case, there is a stellar example of a rogue prosecution…at least with CT and KR, they have a pretty good pile of physical evidence…In the Duke case, they dont have squat and never did…

Assuming the case is dropped, if I am those defendants, Id sue Nifongs office lock stock and barrel…

Witness statements can be brought into court one way or the other. If not by the prosecution, than the defense will and say “why did you make this statement if it wasn’t true?”

Police tend to belive the first statement a possible witness makes, cause they didn’t have time to make something up.

That Duke case probably should have never even been filed…It sure doesnt seem like there is any hard evidence against those Lacrosse players…

Puit’s book of “Evidence verbatim from CT, KR, etc…” is pure and simple hearsay. Unless those people come into court and testify to it, it dont mean shit.

And, CT and KR are under no obligation to testify, but I wonder if CT will insist on taking the stand…I’d be tempted to lay odds on that…

Puits book is supposed to be all the evidance verbatim from CT,KR and 22 other witnesses. If infact that is correct and he didn’t embelish on it at all, I will read it several times over like I did the GJ transcripts.

I’ll agree that Vegas is a bit more cowboy justice oriented, to a point, but I think part of it is due to the fact that Vegas is bursting at the seams, with more crime than Metro knows what to do with…I think they have been overun…

No moral judgment here, but if any other city had the growth and influx of people Vegas did, I doubt the crime would come with it…but Vegas has, um, adult entertainment of all kinds, and that attracts a certain element…

Be careful about putting too much reliance on Puit’s book…he only knows what he has been told, on the record. It is a long way from being a lead pipe cinch. He also wants to sell books, which he has every right to do. The only facts that are going to matter are the ones told to the jury. That’s what I’m waiting for…in the meantime, we can sit back and watch the pre-circus warm-up…

So, in that sense I belive that CT is not really the murderer. As you can see, I’ve changed my point of view many times in this case, and I’m sure it will change even again with new evidence.

But I must say, that if the cops use these tactics to catch killers, than o.k. But, when they cross the line to intimidate, and pressure witnesses, and to fabricate evidence and the media for thier own benefit and not justice, I get a little upset.

I pre-ordered Puits book, I haven’t heard from him about it. I wish someone would let us know what is up with it.

At that point, I will really be able to make a more educated guess at what is going on.
