Titus says he fears jail staff… “I’m very scared right now”

When you the trial was pushed back to April many thought we wouldn’t have much to report on. As this case has proven there is always something. The lead reporter on the case, Glenn Puit of the Las Vegas Review Journal brings us yet another story on Craig Titus.

BODYBUILDER: Titus says he fears jail staff
Inmate tells lawyer he was forced to lie ‘butt naked’

By GLENN PUIT, REVIEW-JOURNAL

Suspect in slaying has been placed in administrative segregation

Bodybuilder Craig Titus has written a jailhouse letter saying that he was forced by corrections officers to lie naked in a jail cell at gunpoint in October, and that two female nurses observed him “butt naked” during the episode.

In the letter to his attorney, Titus also said he fears for his safety at the Clark County Detention Center because of the incident.

“I’m very scared right now,” Titus wrote in the letter, a copy of which has been obtained by the Review-Journal. “For the first time in my life, I’m actually terrified. I need your help, my friend. But I’m also scared to even tell you in fear they may do something else to me.”

Titus’ attorney, Marc Saggese, declined to comment Friday on the letter.

If any inmates at the Clark County Detention Center feel they have been mistreated, Las Vegas police spokesman Jose Montoya said, they can file a complaint with the jail’s internal affairs office or notify a supervising officer and the matter will be investigated.

Montoya referred the Review-Journal to Internal Affairs for further questions. Internal Affairs in turn referred the newspaper to the detention center’s administration. Administrators did not return a call for comment.

It was unclear whether Titus or his attorney have filed a formal complaint with officials at the detention center.

Two weeks ago, the Review-Journal confirmed that Titus was placed in administrative segregation at the jail. Police would not say why.

Titus, 42, is a former competitor in Mr. Olympia bodybuilding competitions. He and his wife, fitness champion Kelly Ryan, 34, are charged with murder in the death of their personal assistant, Melissa James, 28. The young woman’s body was found in the trunk of Ryan’s Jaguar off state Route 160 a year ago.

Titus also has been the subject of an extensive investigation at the detention center regarding suspicions from authorities that he tried to orchestrate a plot to kill three witnesses in his murder case. A colleague of Titus has been charged in the episode, but Titus has denied any involvement. Titus has not been charged with plotting to kill witnesses. Saggese said last week that the details of that investigation have led him to believe police will do anything they can to set up his client.

In Titus’ jailhouse letter, the bodybuilder references a “threat of escape” accusation lodged against him by officials at the jail. Titus denied the accusation in the letter.

In the letter, Titus pleads for help from his attorney as he relates an incident in late October at the jail.

“A code orange was announced over the facility speakers,” Titus wrote. “I was then asked to step outside my cell on two separate occasions by regular module officers while they searched my cell. Nothing happened.

“I would say about 30 minutes later, approximately 8 to 12 officers in full riot gear stormed up to my cell door,” Titus wrote. “They yelled, ‘Inmate Titus, lay flat on the floor, arms extended, palms up, and cross your legs, face down.’

“They then told me if I did not completely comply, I would experience a great amount of pain,” he said.

Titus said the officers had “lasers from Taser guns pointed at me along with shotguns.”

His jail cell opened, two to three officers entered, and he was handcuffed, he said.

“They walked me out the door and proceeded to strap me into a chair on wheels designed for extremely crazy and violent individuals,” Titus said.

“After they strapped me into the chair, they put a black-lensed pair of goggles on me so I was in total darkness,” Titus said. “I was shaking so hard out of fear I was almost in tears.”

Titus said he was wheeled into a room, still in total darkness, and was unstrapped from the chair. He was walked to a bunk bed, told not to resist, and placed flat on his stomach, he said.

“After they took my cuffs off, they pulled my pants and underwear off, leaving me totally nude,” Titus said. “At this point, I’m shaking so bad I can’t even begin to describe the fear.”

Titus said his goggles were pulled off and he was told to keep looking at a wall until the jail cell door slammed.

“Then the officers put a red dot on the wall from either a Taser laser or a shotgun laser and asked me do I know what it is,” Titus said.

Titus said he looked up and realized they were videotaping the incident. He said he was asked whether he had injuries.

“To make matters worse, two female nurses stood there looking at me butt-naked through the glass and took my vital signs,” Titus said.

“After everything was over, I noticed one of the officers dropped his handcuff keys on my bunk,” Titus said. “I immediately gave them to the sergeant on duty. After all this, they are now telling me they made a mistake, and I had nothing to do with whatever went on that night.”

Titus said he is in the “psycho ward” in total isolation.

“I don’t know what they are trying to do to me but now they have other charges filed against me,” Titus said.

Titus also said he has been written up for altering or damaging jail property.

“Please help me,” Titus said. “They won’t let me use the phone as well. I haven’t showered since Monday.

“(It’s) keeping me from sleeping,” Titus said. “I can’t put my back to the door at night, and the nightmares are only getting worse!”

    Two comments…

If any of this is true, and there are always two sides to every story, Metro better be careful not to muck this up…conversely, if CT is embellishing, then he is just acting normal and it will be taken as a “consider the source” thing……

Secondly, CT is in jail because of pretty good evidence against him that he committed some hellacious crimes…He wouldnt be in the jailhouse jam he is in if he hadnt put some things in motion to land his ass in there in the first place…funny how he knows what a taser looks like….

So, CT is scared… Not such a tough guy now, eh? The sign on the building says Detention Center, not Disneyland…

    Well put, again.

Something isn’t adding up, but I can’t put my finger on it exactly.

Titus’ story about another inmate who had a conversation with Gross - and that Gross exonerated him…smacks of bullshit - this could be more of the same…he’s got nothing better to do than think about how to manipulate things…

  3. Disgusted Says:

    I was terrified, waaaahhhhh.

“To make matters worse, two female nurses stood there looking at me butt-naked through the glass and took my vital signs,” Titus said.

    And your point is???

“They walked me out the door and proceeded to strap me into a chair on wheels designed for extremely crazy and violent individuals,” Titus said.

    And your point is???

“They then told me if I did not completely comply, I would experience a great amount of pain,” he said.

    And your point is???

“I was shaking so hard out of fear I was almost in tears.”

I’ll bet your victim was shaking out of fear far more the night you and Kelly killed her.

“(It’s) keeping me from sleeping,” Titus said. “I can’t put my back to the door at night, and the nightmares are only getting worse!”

    Welcome to reality.

I don’t believe any of this crap that the police did this and if they did, Titus had better get used to it because life in prison will be much more terrifying than this. If it happened he’s lucky it was the police, prison inmates are much less compassionate.

LV Detention Center is not exacrly the “Camp Snoopy” you thought it would be is it?

  4. Charlie Says:

I wonder if Craig even gets allowed to workout in jail. How about send him some protein powder, later.

  5. KNEW THEM Says:

So what, One time I was pulled over when cops thought I was someone else with a parole violation and had between 10 and 15 guns pointed at my head by the time I stepped out of my car. Before they found out who I WASN’T, they(the cops) had gone through their normal process of jokes, harassment, threats, and tough guys attitudes when I was cuffed. I didn’t even get an “we’re sorry for the misunderstanding ” they just got in their cars and left. It was on a very busy blvd. That’s just how jail is….no matter if you didn’t pay a ticket or your a murderer. If this is true it sounds a little dramatized by CT.

  6. Anabolic Outlaw Says:

The evening Craig was taken to segregation he had called our office. We were to work on more of the “Titus Tells All” book and he said that he would call back in an hour to do so. Two hours had passed and the phone rang…I thought that it was Craig, but it wasn’t.

The phone call was from an individual calling to inform me that guards took Craig out of his cell and that this was an unusual occurrence.

This happened after a very long lapse from having communicated with Craig via phone regarding the “Titus Tells All” book that is supposed to be about bodybuilding and not the case.

Everything seemed to be normal with Craig when he called that night. “How could things change so drastically in two hours?” I thought.

It was reported by Glenn Puitt that:

“Two weeks ago, the Review-Journal confirmed that Titus was placed in administrative segregation at the jail. Police would not say why.”

    For more information visit musclemissions.org/public/145.cfm

Here you will read a letter that was written 1 month prior to Craig being placed into segregation on the evening of November 21st, 2006. Calls had virtually stopped coming in from Craig since the 22nd of October, except, for the one we received just two hours prior to his segregation where he is unable to place calls to our office.

As a side note, I am currently reading - Brothers of Iron: How the Weider Brothers Created the Fitness Movement and Built a Business Empire by Joe and Ben Weider along with Mike Steere. It was released September 1, 2006. On page 124 of the book, I just learned that Joe Weider has a condo in Vegas.

    Joe Weider writes:

“We bought our first getaway home there. Our latest is a penthouse on the 38th floor of a brand-new condominium tower, not two blocks from where the little apartment I rented in 1960 stood.”

    Joe continues:

“I think maybe I got to Vegas at the perfect moment in time. It still felt like a dusty little desert town. People were so friendly, and they knew my name at the one big grocery store that was the closest thing to a supermarket.”

I would like to add to this, “How many people in Vegas do you suppose know the Weider name now?” Joe Weider’s Mr. Olympia has been held in Las Vegas every year since 1999.

Joe Weider continues on page 125:

“In Vegas, I did what I always did - I worked. I ran the magazines back in Jersey by phone…”

So, Craig Titus wants to expose Joe Weider’s bodybuilding empire by phone.

Perhaps within the “Titus Tells All” book resides the answers to all of this.

  7. Nicki Says:

They are innocent until proven guilty. The police have no right to do that to him. I am digusted by the way people get off to something so cruel. I would like to see one of you react to being mistreated. His rights have been completely taken away from him. This is the USA! You evil people that think you know it all and want to get off to someone else’s pain, will recieve your own carma. I know this case looks bad, but there is no justice left in this world. It is funny how this all happened to Craig right after the DA and judge got nailed for thier illegal activity. The truth of this story is going to shock everyone.

  8. darkstar Says:

    Nicki,

Oh please…get your head out of your ass and listen up…These allegations were made by CT and so far there hasnt been a shred of proof that anybody did squat to him that wasnt proper…Who is to say if it did happen that he didnt instigate it by some actions of his own? HMMMM? Where is his formal complaint against the police?

As to your rant about reacting to being mistreated, what about what CT and KR did to MJ? What about HER rights? CT and KR will certainly recieve their “karma” as you call it…Thats a load of crap…its called 20 to life…

And what about the “truth” of this story?? I suppose you know what it is, and are going to have the balls to tell us, like NOW…

Get it straight, fool…CT is in jail because he is a stone loser. He is not the victim here.

  9. Jason G Says:

If this story is true, we will probably hear more about it soon. In the interest of fairness, we should give a little time for Titus or his attorney to file an official complaint with the jail. Should this not happen relatively soon, I too would be suspicious of the reported abuse. However, if his allogation is true, his attorney is bringing it to the attention of the public to let the jail know that we will be watching.

I also believe that Titus being placed into solitary confinement just after reports of a judge who has committed a serious “proceedural error” (in favor of the DA) and the DA, (with the asstance of the police), plays a “play dead” game with “his” witnesses, does make me wonder if they are in fact treating Titus with fairness and dignity. The truth of this story and others will undoubtedly unfold faster as we near the trial date.

  10. Voice of Reason Says:

If all this really happened and the police wouldn’t let him use the phone, why would they let mail from him go out? If these cops are as corrupt as I have heard on this board, I would think they would suppress any communication from CT.

  11. chainsaw Says:

    Jason G

    Well said.

  12. Ex con Says:

Mr. Titus is now feeling what it feels like being in Jail. BTW what he is going through now is NOTHING compared to what he will receive in a Max Security Prison especially when the rest of the inmates find out how Melissa died and how he is crying about being abused by the police in jail. Mr. Titus better get his lip stick and pumps ready because they will have dressed up and have their way with him.

  13. Jason G Says:

I would prefer to believe that “all” police and DA’s are not unfair and or corrupt. Jails and jail personnel in this country should NEVER be inhumane to any prisoner, guilty or not. If this alleged abuse did in fact happen to Titus, it should be stopped and we should be watching. Titus MAY be found guilty, however, this IS America and our service men and women die every day to protect all of our rights. Titus is innocent UNTIL proven guilty and that is his right and our responsibility to protect those rights.

How Milissa died is at the center of this case. Whether she died before her body was burned is one of the critical questions. The burning of the body as despicable as it was, does not prove murder. Had the body of this beautiful young woman not been burned, this trial would not have been as sensationalized.

  14. Ex con Says:

I really don’t mean to be critical but you must understand that when you are in jail or prison you do not have “rights”. You are locked up 23 hours per day. I have thousands of Craig Titus’ walk through the cage every day. Bad Asses with chips on their shoulders and cocky attitudes. These same Bad Asses are the ones who you see reduced to tears shaking like yours truely. The only law in prison is survival. Make no mistake the guards don’t trust you. You are in there for a reason. Everyone in jail has a story on how they got screwed and “they didn’t do it”. Well history will tell you how many mistakes were made. Not alot. So odds are Craig is here to stay. If he can’t take jail then he might as well take a belt, strap it to a pipe and hang himself cause anything beyond this is pure hell.

  15. Friend of Melissa Says:

You know what Craig, I can’t sleep at night and my nightmares keep getting worse but for exactly different reasons. I hope you burn in hell for what you did you bastard!!

  16. chainsaw Says:

I think Jason G pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I agree with Ex Con to a degree. I worked with severly mentally disabled people that pulled their own nipples off, poked their own eyes out, and bit their fingers off. I never abused one of those people, and believe me, they were dangerous. I would have no problem with a Titus, rather than one of those fella’s. These correctional officers and cops use tasers as well as guns and kill in way more instances than is required. Believe me, it is bad in other cities, but Vegas has to be the worst. They did not lie in Casino.

And Friend of Melissa: I understand you’re feeling, but we all are waiting to hear the evidance.

  17. Knew Titus Says:

I knew him when he was a punk at Lompoc, all that he’s crying about is a load of crap.. he was a trouble maker..and gave the guards a hard time..as far as we’re concerned we knew he would be back through the system..Do not believe what he says about prison officials..Titus has this special way of voicing his opinion about people who were not to his physical expectations..Hey Titus…count time..

  18. venice member Says:

    Anal bolic:

    What’s your deal?

  19. shockandawe Says:

This is the gayest thing yet in this case.
It has Titus written all over it - and by that, I mean, something’s always “rotten in denmark”.

Anabolic Outlaw, pretending to be some 40’s radio host (Lights Out in London, or some Orson Welles character) or an actual journalist…. That killed me.

  20. Chainsaw Says:

    This in the paper today:

CT was talking with a guard at the CCDC, and asked the guard where he could get one of their tactical uniforms at. Not a guard uniform, but a different one. He said he didn’t want a CCDC guard one cause he “CT” couldn’t fit in one. So, Titus made a harmless joke with the guard, but the pencilneck guard couldn’t take the joke and said CT was trying to escape, and they put him in administrative segregation.

Now, for those of you that have never been to jail, talking with guards is not an uncommon thing. Even joking with them. Looks like CT joked with the wrong one.

  21. Chainsaw Says:

Knew Titus is right on the money. Are you sure you knew him in Lompoc of CCDC?

  22. Ex con Says:

Wait til the guards in the pen get a hold of CT. The guards in jail are nothing like the ones in pen. Mark my words CT will be somebody’s bitch within a week.

  23. wayne mortensen Says:

Well, you heard Craigs side of the story. Now you can hear the other side of the story. I wasnt there but a fly on the wall told me. Craig had been belligerent for several weeks. He was making rude and offensive remarks to the guards. He was telling everyone how much money he was going to make when he got off of murder charges. He was bragging that he was going to kill certain guards and authorities with his bare hands when he got out. He was spitting on the guards. He was bullying the other inmates. The authorities thought he was getting dangerous so they suited up, got their video cameras to show that there was no undue force and told CT to be peaceful because each guard was going to have their way with him. He was told that he was going to experience alot of pain if he did not comply. All of the sudden, CT realized these men were not playing games, he realized he was bullying the skinny boy at the gym. He realized that thes guards were strong, angry and were determined to make him comply. Now Craig does not try to intimidate anyone, guards, other prisoners, his lawyers. He sits there passively because he knows these guards will suit up again and kick his ass for grins.

  24. thechosenmale Says:

Craig was scared? He was scared? At least he wasnt going to be killed. If he was scared can you imagine how scared his victim was when her life was being extinquished. CT wasnt going to be killed, but his victim sure was killed.

  25. Ex con Says:

Now everyone in jail knows what happened. CT shot off is big mouth, acting like the tough guy. All the other inmates witnessed it for themselves. You can bet that this information is alredy circulating in the pen. It is respectable in prison to spit at guards, disrespect them and then get the shit beaten out of you and you come back for more. This pussy is crying and scared and all they did was strip him naked. Boy is he in for a surprise.

  26. Ex con Says:

  27. beachbanger Says:

Poor Craig…..this experience sounds mild compared to what Melissa James hadf to go through at the hands of these two murderers.

  28. beachbanger Says:

Also, why do we hear so much from Craig? Don’t forget Kelly in Walmart buying the BBQ set and lighter fluid…Hope these two have a Merry Christmas in jail where they need to spend the rest of their lives!

  29. Nicki Says:

Yes, two sides to every story: An article comes out in the newspaper about the crooked DA the same day Craig gets tortured. What a fucking coincidence. All this information about what they did to Craig was just on
Fox News. Including how the jailers made a mistake with his punishment. The CCDC will be sued after this.

If the defense had any subsantial evidence of the alleged murder of Melissa James then they would not feel compelled to set anything up to make thier case look worse.

Craig and Kelly will not spend thier rest of thier lives in jail. So, all of you that are ready to see them rot, get ready to be terribly disappointed.

  30. darkstar Says:

    Nicki,

The terrible disappointment is that there are morons like you out there who refuse to acknowledge the facts…

  31. Ex con Says:

Craig was STRIPPED NAKED and he “is scared”. What a pussy. From what my friends tell me he was the same way in bodybuilding. He would lip off and the when he was called out he shut up. Wait til the animals in the pen get their hands on him. Craig will be wearing a mop on his bald head, red lip stick, a pair of pumps and squeeling like a pig.

  32. darkstar Says:

    Hey Chainsaw,

First, I can appreciate your work with the disabled people.

I do still have to take issue with your statement that the police in LV kill in way more instances than is required…Thats simply not the case. In the instance of this last inmate who was found dead in his cell, he fell out of his bunk, hit his head and was stitched up by the med personnel…he was returned to his cell and was found in there dead two days later…Thats a far cry from killing for no reason…I mean, over the course of two days, there are likely dozens of counts, checks, searches, whatever, and it would seem to me that this inmate would have been showing signs of bad treatment during that time…somebody would have seen something…
Lets see the evidence of wrongdoing here as well before we jump to conclusive hyperbole…

    d*

  33. darkstar Says:

    Chain,

You could be right, CT may have joked with the wrong guy…then again, given the higher profile of CT within the jail, plus the fact that the residents of the jail are basically a bunch of con men, it would seem reasonable that the guard would take CTs comments at face value…Its like saying things like “bomb” or “hijack” while in the security line at the airport…The airport takes those words dead serious. Thus, a guard is going to take the words of an inmate seriously as well, because you cannot depend on the truth of what might be behind the words…

    Does that make sense?

    d*

  34. KNEW THEM Says:

If anyone has ever been to jail they know that guards always try to run their mouths to any overly built person locked up. Same thing when a cop has a built guy hand-cuffed. CT was prob. running his mouth for a few days and the guards said they were going to use this “uniform” story to take a shot at him. I think CT will be able to handle himself just fine; he my not be 265, but he still much bigger than jail house inmate.

  35. Family Friend Says:

ok wait a minute….Now we are waiting for evidence before we jump to conclusions? So if it has anything to do with wrongdoing on the part of the DA or LVPD, or the guards, we are going to wait to see evidence, they will receive the benefit of the doubt, I mean after all they deserve it right? We know that because …uh oh right because they said so, they wouldn’t lie or anything, I mean they have nothing to hide right? Its all about justice and the American way, who cares if they win a case or look foolish……they are in it for the sheer glory of meting out justice. Right. I mean it makes perfect sense…a guy falls out of bed….needs a few stitches…..two days later….dead. But hey thats normal right? Couldn’t be anything bad happening because someone would hve said so,right? Nothing to hide here. ….I don’t know maybe it’s me.

  36. KNEW THEM Says:

The sad fact of the matter is that CT and KR will be on the loosing end of any court decisions that could favor them. I think Glass is going to let everthing into this trial that Saggese thinks should omitted. It going to be an uphill climb and I think Craig is starting to realize it now. I think he is trying to gain some type of sympathy before trail. All you people posting with comments about Craig “not being able to handle himself in prison”, he can. I think Craig should be worried about Kelly, she will prob. never walk out of a jail again for the rest of her life.

  37. chainsaw Says:

    Family Friend:

Please elaborate a little more. You give us bits and pieces, but some of us do have an open mind. What is going on to the best of you’re knowledge?

  38. darkstar Says:

    Chain,

Nothing wrong with an open mind, and I think most here have an open mind, but there is that pesky matter of facts…Sure the DA has to prove it, but lets get real…If there wasnt enough evidence to hold CT and KR without bail, they wouldnt be there…but they are…if MJ wasnt dead, in their house, burned in their car, they wouldnt be there…but she is and they are……

Now, as far as folks like Nicki or family friend, they only see one side, and while that is fine, their arguments dont carry any water whatsover…it is all deny, deny, deny…CT is the victim, he is being abused, the cops are getting away with murder and mayhem and where is CT’s rights, blah, blah blah…tomorrow is the first anniversary of the day MJ was murdered…lets remember the real victim here…

Nobody said an inmate falling out of his bunk, etc is normal, but it doesnt mean foul play was involved either…see, thats the disconnect here…everything is against CT, the cops are out to get the inmates, cowboy justice, wild wild west…Well thats a load of crap. I’d wager if you, me whoever were guards at CCDC we would probably be pretty hardened to all the scamming that is perpetrated by the inmates…I mean, the inmates dont go in there voluntarily!!!

Sure, innocent before proven guilty, but this blog isnt a courtroom, and we arent the jury…

Family friend doesnt know any more than anyone else…think about it…someone with that much knowledge would be a material witness, and certainly wouldnt be bloviating on a blog like this, where it doesnt mean squat…

  39. darkstar Says:

    Knew Them,

I too think CT could likely hold his own in the joint…He’s still pretty big and strong, and unless he got jumped by a bunch of dudes, I do think he would defend pretty well…I guess…

I also think he has to be thinking about Kelly. Deep down in there, he has to know this is a screw up that pretty much may do them in for a long time. Its a shame. Didnt have to be that way…I would imagine in its own way a womens facility can be just a nasty as the men’s…

    Dang…

    d*

  40. Voice of Reason Says:

    d*

I would disagree with you on whether CT could hold his own in the joint. Judging by what happened and how he reacted, acknowledging that he was near tears and he is very scared when he was simply stripped naked and video taped. He wasn’t beaten up or pose any serious threat other than shooting off his big mouth. I remember he had a running battle with Bob Chicirello (sp?), when Chic confronted CT and asked him to go outside and settle it he backed down. In my opinion, Craig is in big trouble in the joint around animals that have so much time they can’t get anymore and just don’t care about anything. Just my thoughts.

  41. Ex con Says:

    Knew Them:

I have seen many a bad ass from the street come in the joint crying for their mothers within hours of coming in. CT may be a bad ass but my bet is with guys inside. Inside it is survival. If CT “is very scared right now” and “for the first time in my life I was terrified” over being stripped naked and video taped, this is nothing compared to what he will get inside. Especially when, and I say when because they already know about this, they find out about how he reacted to this incident.

  42. darkstar Says:

    Voice,

I hear ya, I would not want to be in CTs shoes no matter how big or bad I was, because there is always somebody bigger and badder…and like you said, lifers or others with a long sentence have nothing much to lose by taking it out on a CT type…
He better start thinking about how to get along with Bruno the amorous cellmate…

I wouldnt want to be him…

  43. CHAINSAW Says:

You do have a point there, but I will say that Vegas is in a sense cowboy justice oriented. I firmly believe that Kelly had more to do with this than Craig. So, in that sense I belive that CT is not really the murderer. As you can see, I’ve changed my point of view many times in this case, and I’m sure it will change even again with new evidence.

But I must say, that if the cops use these tactics to catch killers, than o.k. But, when they cross the line to intimidate, and pressure witnesses, and to fabricate evidence and the media for thier own benefit and not justice, I get a little upset.

I pre-ordered Puits book, I haven’t heard from him about it. I wish someone would let us know what is up with it.

At that point, I will really be able to make a more educated guess at what is going on.

    Chain,

I’ll agree that Vegas is a bit more cowboy justice oriented, to a point, but I think part of it is due to the fact that Vegas is bursting at the seams, with more crime than Metro knows what to do with…I think they have been overun…

No moral judgment here, but if any other city had the growth and influx of people Vegas did, I doubt the crime would come with it…but Vegas has, um, adult entertainment of all kinds, and that attracts a certain element…

Be careful about putting too much reliance on Puit’s book…he only knows what he has been told, on the record. It is a long way from being a lead pipe cinch. He also wants to sell books, which he has every right to do. The only facts that are going to matter are the ones told to the jury. That’s what I’m waiting for…in the meantime, we can sit back and watch the pre-circus warm-up…

  47. darkstar Says:

    Chain,

I also wonder about KR’s involvement… but I think they will still be equally culpable…

  48. chainsaw Says:

Puits book is supposed to be all the evidance verbatim from CT,KR and 22 other witnesses. If infact that is correct and he didn’t embelish on it at all, I will read it several times over like I did the GJ transcripts.

How about that Duke case. Nifong is gonna pay I bet.

  49. KNEW THEM Says:

D* Did you see the interview with the other stripper on 20/20(I think). If you did we know how this will end.

  50. darkstar Says:

    Chain,

Puit’s book of “Evidence verbatim from CT, KR, etc…” is pure and simple hearsay. Unless those people come into court and testify to it, it dont mean shit.

And, CT and KR are under no obligation to testify, but I wonder if CT will insist on taking the stand…I’d be tempted to lay odds on that…

  51. darkstar Says:

    Chainsaw,

That Duke case probably should have never even been filed…It sure doesnt seem like there is any hard evidence against those Lacrosse players…

    Sure smells like politics…

KNEW THEM, I didnt see that show…what did the interview say?

    d*

  52. KNEW THEM Says:

Dark*: The other stripper contradicted every account the other one stated..

  53. chainsaw Says:

    d*

Witness statements can be brought into court one way or the other. If not by the prosecution, than the defense will and say “why did you make this statement if it wasn’t true?”

Police tend to belive the first statement a possible witness makes, cause they didn’t have time to make something up.

  54. KNEW THEM Says:

It’s amazing how in this country(how we are supposed to be INNOCENT until……) someone can just point to 3 guys in a team photo and the next thing they know, they are charged with rape! AMAZING! These kinds of over zealous DA’s, detectives, and cops ruin peoples lives. I wonder why some many citizens dispise authority.

  55. darkstar Says:

    Knew Them,

Well, that should about stick a fork in Nifongs case, along with the DNA tests from the alleged victim’s undies…coming back with the strippers boyfriends, um, DNA, none of which matched the defendants…

Now, that case seems like a clear example of prosecutorial misconduct…

    d*

  56. darkstar Says:

    Chain,

Yes, I agree, but one cant use Puit’s book as evidence per se…

Those witness statements in Puits book, collected at the jail or through his other sources from interviews, are useless unless those declarants are put on the stand and testify about it at the trial.

Now, that Duke case, there is a stellar example of a rogue prosecution…at least with CT and KR, they have a pretty good pile of physical evidence…In the Duke case, they dont have squat and never did…

Assuming the case is dropped, if I am those defendants, Id sue Nifongs office lock stock and barrel…

  57. chainsaw Says:

Puits book I belive are interviews that the police did verbatim.

That is why I want to get it.

Defense needs a heavyweight coroner. Henry Lee. I read you’re other post, it doesn’t need to be reputable. Just something else than the good ol’ boys “I don’t know how she died”. I could get CT off and KR off with a good ol “I don’t know”. Could have been this, could have been that… The Prosecution will be done if they say that.

Duke is done, Nifong should be prosecutid. He may be if he don’t make a deal. what an idiot!

  58. KNEW THEM Says:

CHAIN: Your right, the defense needs a heavyweight for the autoposy report to somewhat favor CT & KR. I thought U told me the state already determined “no cause”. Speaking of autopsy results…remember how in M. Foley’s GJ trans. she said MJ took a xanax and went to bed….well more discredit to the coke-whorefitnesswannabe, correct me if I’m wrong, but no xanax in her system.

  59. darkstar Says:

    Chain,

Puit’s book may be full of police transcripts and stuff, but they cant just take the book into court, toss it on the bench and say, “here ya go, judge……its all in here….” those people have to testify about what they said, and we all know what happens to testimony that happens over a year after the original interviews….witnesses forget, get stupid, get dumb, they die…shit happens…

I agree with you that it is probably a good general guide, but thats about it.

    d*

  60. darkstar Says:

    Chain,

What an idiot is right! Nifong should resign for this! If I were those “defendants” I’d sue his ass off. They will win, too.

I wonder when they will dismiss the charges?

    d*

  61. KNEW THEM Says:

Just saw more on Greta….the pros. withheld more DNA that would exonerate the defendants. It’s just a matter of time before this case is dropped and the BIG civil law suit begins!

  62. KNEW THEM Says:

THE STRIPPER ACCUSING THE 3 DUKE PLAYERS IN KNOCKED UP NOW!!!!!!

  63. darkstar Says:

    Hey NIFONG!!!

Na na na na–na na na na–hey hey hey—good-bye…

He should be disbarred, sued, and forced to run a guantlet of the LaCrosse players he tried to ruin…

  64. Disgusted Says:

All you people posting with comments about Craig “not being able to handle himself in prison”, he can.

Bullshit! Ex-Con nailed this one. All prisoners have is time. Time to spread the word to look for the fresh meat called Titus the day he arrives. They’ve already heard about his crying crap about being stripped, don’t worriy Craig they’ll only pull your pants to your knees.

I don’t care how tough you may think he is but I guarantee that there are countless 130 pounders in prison who can knock his big ass out with one punch. Trust me, he’s going to have a reception party waiting for him that he’ll never forget the first night he arrives to his final destination.

There’s no way that Craig will remain anal retentive in prison, he’s going to find out fast why it’s called a penile (penal) institution.

As for Kelly, no doubt she’s been introduced to the broomstick by now.

  65. KNEW THEM Says:

Hey Disgusted: I’ve been to jail, Craig’s been to jail, and I have NEVER seen a 130lb jailhouse punk knock myself or any other BBer out; even off a pro cycle he would have to be made of glass to begin with to let that happen. Even after a year locked up Craig is still in a totally different size catagory than other inmates. By the way it’s the child molesters and rapests who get it and they deserve it and a good beating by your 130lb prison athlete.

  66. chainsaw Says:

When in county, I would hear people pray to get to prison. Better food, radio, tv, library and more exercise. Nevada prisons, from the character’s that I see in county, IE Brady and this guy they released as a rat? These are the same pansy’s that are in prison.

Prison is more fun than county, I have heard them all say.

CT will do fine IF he gets sent to prison.

Kelly, well, I might wonder a little more.

  67. KNEW THEM Says:

Very true county is the worst! The murders, rapists, and True violent offenders should be kept there….the people who didn’t pay a traffic ticket should be taken straight to prison. Sports, outdoors, better meals, reading material and sometimes weights!
