I can’t buy Craig’s attorney’s claim that this dude was out to impress CT. I’ll bet that CT had more to do wiht this caper than we know and will surface very soon. Even the big time Hollywood writers couldn’t write this good.
Good thing that the laws won’t allow CT to profit from it once he’s convicted and sentenced. BTW, how the hell is he paying for this new attorney with the $2k suit? It appears that at the moment, CT hasn’t a pot to piss in nor a window to throw it out of.

That is my question too..how is CT paying his legal bills?
While it is true some attorneys will take a case for the publicity, I dont think CT is well known enough outside of the body building industry for it to make much of an impact. I have to think that whatever CT got for the property sales is pretty much gone by now. Part of it had to go to pay Kelly’s legal bills as well, so the question remains, how are they paying their lawyers?
The bills will really accumulate when the trial starts…the attorneys will be in court every day, all on the clock, not to mention after hours writing motions, etc…
Unless this Saggese has a huge war chest, and is willing to spend it to defend CT, it will be interesting to see what happens when he isnt getting paid for a while…this case will undoubtedly make him clear his desk of other work, so unless it is a quick trial (not likely) or CT t shirt sales take off (really not likely) I wonder how he will get paid as well…
Unless, CT/KR are found to be indigent, and the county pays part of the lawyers fee…but then they would probably just be assigned a public defender…
Not sure how it works in Clark County.

I don’t buy the assertion either *in Craig Titus’ case* but there is plenty of precedent. We don’t have to look any further than John Hinckley’s misguided belief that he could gain the approval of Jodie Foster by shooting President Reagan.
In my mind, the Brady case is far different. If the reports are true, there are recorded conversations where Titus seems to respond to “updates” about the murder-for-fire plot thinly veiled as a publishing deal. I guess I could be persuaded that Craig did not mastermind the hit list plot and that Brady did, but it seems obvious to me that Craig knew about it and did nothing to avert it.
As for paying the attorney, it wouldn’t surprise me a bit if Craig’s representation in this case is being paid very little. I’m not a lawyer, but I suspect that acting as primary counsel on a high-profile case like this could make an entire career for an attorney. I would defer to someone who actually practices law to comment about what considerations might be given to Titus so that he could afford more than a public defender.
So how about it, attorneys? How can Titus swing this? Obviously he wasn’t broke when this all went down, but I doubt he has the kind of bank that could afford experienced, skilled attorneys for a protracted trial.

Although saggese looks like a great attorney, He probably isn’t Johnny Cochran yet. If he can get these guys to walk, he’ll be a million dollar attorney in the future. Remember when Johnny got the different strokes guy todd bridges off when he shot a some dude in the head while on crack?
He’ll get some cash, but this probably is like a big free commercial for him no matter what the outcome.

Excellnt point chainsaw. Other than being a decent looking guy, what could this attorney possibly have to gain from this since there obviously isn’t any cash laying around to pay for his fees.
His only possible agenda is that he is counting largely on aquittal in order to build a reputation that will attract future criminals that do have resources that can and will convert him into a million dollar attorney.
Either that or he’s just plain stupid.

Enough with the “celebrity” status! Bodybuilding is without “celebrity” to include, Titus. In the cult culture of this ridiculous activity I don’t beleive Titus would have even attained this consideration. Besides, only Arnold and I, no other bodybuilder has ever made it out of the closet! There are different types of celebrities. I hate to admit it but Charles Manson is a cult celebrity as well. At webster.com (m-w.comcelebrity simply means a famous person, regardless of what they do.

Another very good point Chainsaw. By now the LV District Attorney has realized that both Titus and Brady are sharing a brain and I wouldn’t discount them re-uniting the happy couple. Can’t you just visualize it now, Titus and Brady pick up the conversation where they left off as if nothing has happened. This is a possibility because yes, they are that stupid.
As for celebrity status, only the magazine reading public thought of Titus as a celebrity. Those of us who knew him thought of him only as a playground bully out of control and aren’t surprised one bit of his present circumstances in fact we expected he would end up in prison years ago. Certainly not for murdering an innocent victim and certainly not dragging his equally stupid wife with him. May they both rot.

Chainsaw, I’ll have to send you a copy of my film “Stand Tall.” Recall that Titus and Ryan have been referred to as “body building celebrities.” Pro body builders are under the dillusion they are celebrites. No such thing. Titus and Ryan are celebrities for having “allegedly” killed some one. As did Manson. However, neither Manson nor Titus were known to the general public before commiting their heinous crimes. The only reason Arnold and I became publicly known as body builders was a result of film and TV.

As far as the payment to the attorney they are being paid well by the people who know and love them, do not speak of things of which you know NOTHING about. You know nothing of this case other than what you read so be a little more open minded, the two come from money and made a ton of money so why would you think they would have no money for an attorney?

The more a hear, I can’t believe this guy was ever in the running for anything in the bodybuilding world. It is unfortunate that sometimes people who do really nasty things sometimes do get that cult status as well. Makes for lots of copycat crimes. Although, this case is a bit interesting to me.

Maybe they did make “a ton of money” but given the drug habits of these two, I would imagine they blasted through quite a lot of it. Junkies generally don’t retain cash very well. This case is going to be mega expensive and it sounds to me like Craig’s family is going to need their money for THEIR defense lawyer with the whole witness murder plot.

What evidence do they have that they kidnapped her? What evidence do they have that they killed her? They have evidence that they destroyed evidence and unlawful disposal of a corpse. Not murder, not kidnapping. I think the DA is running scared… hence the drama and smoke screen with Brady…. they needed something to draw the attention away from his incredibly incredible witnesses ….all of a sudden this guy thinks..hey I’m heading to court with a pocket full of charges and three witnesses with rap sheets as long as the accused not to mention serious credibility and drug problems. I think the DA made up his mind who was guilty, thought for sure he could get one to turn on the other to save themselves, but forgot to consider they may not turn if they are not guilty. After everything you people have written about these two you seriously think that they are noble enough to sacrafice themselves for anyone including each other? Which is it? OK, lets go down the list…
First, the DA is not going to charge someone with a crime unless they believe they have a good chance of proving it in court. And, they do have testimony, which is evidence, regarding how CT described killing MJ.
Brady is not a smoke screen. He may be a doofus, but he is not a diversion to draw attention away…he is simply more grist for the mill, more ammo for the DA…to think the DA cooked this up is preposterous, and you know it.
It doesnt matter if one rolls on the other or not. The charges against each of them will stand on their own. That is why they were charged as such. If any of them are offered a deal to save their sorry butts from a longer sentence, too bad for whoever they roll on…
If these people had not done anything wrong, they arguably would not be in jail awaiting trial on several felony charges.

I have to say that I only have heard half of the evidence; however it is pretty damning at that. I don’t think that it is wrong for anyone to discuss that they are innocent or guilty here, but the personal attacks that have come mainly from mostly, the “they are innocent” crowd is unbelievable.

Chainsaw - I agree. For the most part, the crowd who believe they are innocent have a bias - and resort to name calling or down right disgusting talk. It’s the reason I don’t go to the other message boards. This forum has been somewhere where people could go and discuss the case without having to deal with all the idiots who want to talk trash (like Ray above). I guess this forum is turning that way as well.
I had no idea who Craig Titus was and only knew of Kelly from Fitness Mags before this case. I read the police reports, heard the statements, saw CT and KR’s actions after the death of Melissa and formed my own opinion that they are guilty. Unless the CT and KR’s defense team is holding back something that can prove that they are not guilty. I can’t help but believe that they are. I respect the fact that there are people on this board that know them and love them and think that CT and KR would never commit this crime, but I don’t know them and only have the evidence that has been brought out to the public - and it looks mightly incriminating.

I’m no prude, but I had enough of all the dirty that was been flung to and fro! I have enjoyed this board and have gained a lot of insight by reading many of the post - especially yours. I try to ignore the trash talkers, but do read all of the posts that seem logical even if they are of a different opinion. I can’t imagine having a friend or loved one in the predicament that CT and KR are in. Of course I would want to be supportive of my friends, but when there is so much evidence against them - it would be so hard. But - we all do know that (to borrow the cliche) Love IS BLIND. I had a brother in law years ago who called me in the wee hours in the morning one night thinking he had beat somebody to death…thinking he had murdered them. This turned out to not be true, but I remember the different feelings I had had back then. Michael was the most gentle and kind human being I had ever known. He was practically a real big brother to me since I had known him since I was 10 or so when he first started dating my older sister. I had known him for about 12 years at that point and had never even seen him shout or raise a hand to anyone. He did indeed beat someone up that night - and pretty bad, but the guy lived. What I am getting at here is that - I don’t think any of us truly knows what any of us are capable of or what kinds of things go down when push comes to shove.

Shannon, it is somewhat difficult to take your suggestions of growing up seriously when looking at the structure of your sentences, misspelled words and issues you have with lower/upper case. More importantly, liquidating asetts for reasons of hiding and/or protecting them are problematic for a number of reasons. Not only does there exist a paper trail of where the asetts were moved, but those actions are easily exposed and historically and without great difficulty lead to fraud. Those, like famiy members and/or friends acting to assist with such an action will also be vulnerable to exposure and suit. The fact is, guilty or not indepedently or collectively, whatever remaining asetts may exist after the trial(s), Titus and Ryan will forever be exposed, fighting for crumbs.

Liquidating assets to prevent the James family from getting anything in a yet to be filed civil suit sounds to me like CT knows he is liable for Melissa’s death…and would lose in a civil case…
After they are found guilty of all charges in the criminal case, that money wont do them any good, and the money their family has spent on their defense will be long gone.

This civil judgement stuff is just B.S… I think CT should already have to pay MJ’s mother $$$$ anyway, I mean, burning her body is a dispicable act. Even if he isn’t convicted of the murder. In my opinion I do not think those two were all that flush with cash…obviously that is a relative thing, but I really do not think their financial situation was all that stellar. You are also right in that if MJ’s family does sue CT/KR in a civil case and win, it will be an moral win at best since there will be no money to pay the judgment.
They sold the house to get the cash and split…that reeks of a guilty mind, and that will be used against them….

If that is the case shannon, than I should take it like I’m being scammed by CT and KR when they ask for money for the lawyer relief fund… Now, I don’t wish anything other than proper justice for CT and KR, and I have no axe to grind, I don’t know them. But when I read some of their defendors posts, I truely don’t wonder why they are in this situation.

Questions:
How long is the trial likely to take?
What proof other than hearsay will the prosecution likely have that Craig and Kelly were taking multiple drugs…steroids and otherwise - do they take blood, urine or hair samples?
How does their alleged drug use factor into the case?
Does anyone think there may be a chance in hell C or K will take the stand…Craig is at least pretending he wants to get the real story out - shades of Scott Peterson.
It’s somewhat remarkable how C and K have stuck together this far,and I would agree with speculation that there is plenty of guilt to go round for both of them.
Even if Kelly is equally or for that matter more responsible - what are the chances of her getting a deal for rolling on Craig?

I can answer maybe 2 of those questions. Since they weren’t arrested for a drug offense, I don’t think drugs of any kind will play a part in the trial. It is just for murder,kidnapping and arson. They cant say that drugs made me do it. Now for their defense, they took samples from MJ to see if she indeed had drugs in her system, and she did. But then Kelly said she injected MJ with morphine. Thats about all there will be about dope, except to discredit witnesses that said they never did drugs before.
They will never offer Kelly a deal. She punched MJ, tased her, and shot her with morphine, and went along for the ride when she was gagged and tied in the trunk of the car. No way will Kelly get a deal….

How about this…I must say this is a very interseting forum with alot of good, valid substantial points.
What is going to happen to the city of Las Vegas to include the District Attorney’s office, and even the LVMPD for that matter when the evidence will show that Deem Cassim was “released” from jail with a 12 year sentence on his back in June, setting him completely free with probation? CT does have a damn good attorney, and he did say “he’s never seen this happen before”. The question would be, did the DA’s office do this because they didn’t have enough information on CT, so they had to go out of their way for the “snitch”? Undoubtabley, they are trying to use Brady to get to CT, but Im going to pretend say that I am 110% positive that this won’t happen, so then what? Brady too has one of the best attorney’s in the city, so what if this just all falls back in the DA’s lap?
I am honestly just seeking opinions, not trying to light a fire here, but I just have one question for this forum and honestly seeking intellegnt opinions. Lets just “pretend” that Brady doesn’t “flip” on CT as the DA’s office, media, etc. is hoping/saying he will. And, that being said, Brady fights this to the end, what about the damage it would do to the LVMPD for CT’s trial? I won’t state my opinion because again, I am not trying to start a fire, but wouldn’t that make it just that much more clear that they don’t have the evidence against CT?
What if, just by chance, they don’t have enough evidence against Brady and again we’ll just pretend that this is a fact, what do you think will happen to this case?

I know someone that was a huge fan of yours growing up so just out of curiosity knowing that say “you”, or even someone being “labled” as a celebrity and not necessarily making that status as you say, looking from your eyes… You would know better than all of us what it would be like to have your name spread throughout the world…What do you think (about the above)?

First, I doubt it will be more than a blip on the radar in terms of any blowback on the DA or Metro…Cassim had a 2 to 12 or 3 to 12 year sentence for attempted robbery, and so he would likely have only served the low numbers of it anyway…
At this point, if Brady decides to fight the charges against him, which he probably will, well, he may as well, because so far Brady is the only one taking the heat for the conspiracy. CT hasnt been charged, so it is no skin off the DA’s nose if Brady wants to slug it out…The MJ murder is completely separate from the Brady charges. Related, sure, but different cases.
Another theory might have the DA letting Brady hang by himself for the conspiracy, and simply go after CT and KR on the murder/arson, etc…
They could try CT later on the conspiracy, maybe after the murder trial. Im not sure what the statute of limitations is for filing, if there is one, but I’m sure the DA is simply biding their time…they dont have to try the murder and conspiracy charges together…
As for Brady, the DA obviously thinks they have the goods on him because they arrested him and charged him. What happens next will likely not involve the amount of evidence they have against him, but rather what kind of mileage they think they can get out of him to use against CT…or not….
Frankly, I think the DA can go after Brady straight up and probably convict on the conspiracy. Id look for some deal cutting to go on before or during that trial.

Very valid reasonable points! There is a “Jason G” and chainsaw too that are making some strong points as well.
I just don’t get this…court for Brady was yesterday and receives bail, though a high amount, he did receive it. But now the biggest question that comes to mind is the fact that Daskas said, “Brady is a danger to the community”, yet it had been reported by the LVMPD knowing about this “alleged plot” since May, 2006 yet they allowed him to “walk the streets” until October, 2006 (3 months before CT/KR trial date) and freed Cassim in June? What is that? If in fact he were such a danger, and the last reported activity was in May, why did it take so long to arrest him? If I remember correctly, that was one of Glen P’s first comments.
True enough, the DA must have something on Brady, but why don’t these pieces to the puzzle fit together?

I did read your comments, and I do agree. The bail I am sure set at a high amount for good reason, but after some small research, this situation w/ Cassim is very rare in the State of Nevada.
I guess that is possibly what is making me crazy…Didn’t Cassim beat the poker player w/ the gun handle, or was that just an attempt robbery? I shouldn’t say “just”, but one more harmful than the other. From what I remember, unless of course these cases are just running into one another, wasn’t the poker player hurt?

I am pretty sure Cassim was tried and convicted of attempted robbery. He didnt get away with Raymers loot, but I dont know if Cassim hit Raymer or any of the other details. Raymer did apparently put up a fight and Cassim and his partner split…
I did see Raymer on Poker Superstars last night, and he is a big guy…probably why Cassim couldnt complete the robbery!
Raymer is also a patent attorney who apparently likes playing poker more than being a lawyer…that’s friggin’ great if you ask me…he’s not a half bad card player, either…he’s won some serious cash…
