FOX NEWS - ON THE RECORD

“Bodybuilder Murder Plot”
Greta Van Susteren interviews Glenn Puit, reporter from the Las Vegas Review Journal and Mark Saggese, Craig Titus’ lawyer, on the latest developments. Getbig.com was given credit on several photos that were shown.

Glenn has take over the reigns from Frank Curreri as the main reporter on this case. Earlier in the year we saw Frank on the various shows and now it’s Glenn. Puit is well spoken and unlike Frank changes the color of his shirt with each interview. He gives a recap of the story and gives the information we’ve been reading related to the newest developments. He corrects Greta in stating that Craig and Nelson Brady were not close friends as she stated. The trial is supposed to go to trial in January but it is not known if this plot will change that date.

This is the first time we’ve heard Titus’ new lawyer speak publicly on TV. He is a sharp dresser, confident and conveys he has more information then what the nation knows. Mark Saggese claims he was blind sided by the news of this murder for hire plot…

Greta: “Mark has the prosectutor given you any hints as of whether or not he or she intends to charge you client with murder for hire in addition to the underlying murder charges?”

Mark: “Well Greta the only news I’ve heard from the District Attorney’s Office is through the newspaper when I was blindsided on Friday with the information on this murder for hire plot.”

He goes after Brady’s character immediately commenting on the fact that he is a 14-time arrestee and “known drug addict”. Mr. Saggese states, “Mr. Titus cannot be held accountable for the actions of an individual who goes out of jail and acts on his own in an effort to please Craig Titus and his celebrity status.”

Mr. Saggese began to paint the picture of Craig’s defense at the end of the interview.

Craigs lawyer was sharp I have to give him that. Lets see what he can do in front of a jury. If it was anything like the on the record interview, it will be real interesting.

  2. darkstar Says:

    chainsaw,

Yes, however, it is one thing to go on a TV program where whatever you say really doesnt mean anything and essentially be unchallenged on the facts and bloviate about the innocence of your client, and quite another to go into court against an equally or even better prepared District Attorney, who has a ton of resources at their disposal, and refute the hard evidence and words from CT and KR’s own lips….

I’d like to know how CT is going to pay his lawyer…It’s a long time between now and January, at least in terms of billable attorney hours…not to mention the costs that will be incurred when the trial starts…

Win or lose, CT and KR will have huge legal bills…there aint no contingency deals in a criminal case….better get those t shirts back up on ebay…

  3. KNEW THEM Says:

KELLY’S FAMILY HAS MONEY AND CRAIG GIVES ANY DEFENSE ATTORNEY NATIONAL EXPOSURE. I THINK KELLY WILL CUT A DEAL AND CRAIG WILL HAS TO GO TO TRAIL BECAUSE OF HIS PRIOR ARREST RECORD. HE’ S GOT NOTHING TO LOSE EXCEPT LIFE(ONE WAY OR ANOTHER).

  4. darkstar Says:

CT’s prior record has nothing to do with whether he goes to trial now or not.
He will go to trial now because the charges against him are dire, and the DA believes they have a solid case against him.
I seriously doubt that he will be offered any kind of a deal. Maybe Kelly will be made a plea offer in exchange for rolling over on CT…
Kelly’s family may have money, but whether they will spend it on her court case is another matter.

    I agree

  6. KNEW THEM Says:

chainsaw n darkstar, CT is a all or nothing guy. He will want to go to trail and be judged by 12. He probably will want to take the stand in his own defense, but I don’t think his new attorney will ever allow it.

  7. Gym Rat (drug free) Says:

Knew Them: If CT wants to be judged by 12 then he’s screwed.

‘All juries consist of 12 people too stupid to get out of jury duty’
    - Norm Crosby

  8. darkstar Says:

    KNEW THEM,

Yup, I have no doubt CT will want to get up there and tell his story…the problem is, if he does, he will get shredded by the DA…Once the defense opens that door, the defendant is fair game. Thats why, like you said, his lawyer will tell him to sit down and shut up..

Like Johnny Cochran once said (and I am no fan of Johnny Cochran, but this is true..) “The road to state prison is littered with defendants who took the stand…”

IN CT’s case, I really dont think it will matter…he is a very unsympathetic defendant…

  9. darkstar Says:

Regarding the video of CT’s lawyer on Greta, frankly I didnt hear anything but rote denials of his client’s culpability…He played the same strategy card CT has been playing all along, the “bad judgment ” card…whoop de doo…

It doesnt wash…Saggese is going to have trouble with this one…

  10. chainsaw Says:

    Yo d* and Knew them,

You both sound about right. I did like Saggese, and he will have trouble with all the mounting evidance no doubt; However, if he doesn’t make mistakes and can instill reasonable doubt, we will see. I honestly will have to read the book and see the witness statements from the police report, to the grand jury. There is a reason that there was not a peliminary hearing, the DA must not have felt to confident in the witness statements so they could be cross examined by a defense attorney.

We will see. Las Vegas is the most corrupt city I have ever seen. Not that that means really anything to this case except you have sooo many people from all areas of the country here.

  11. Disgusted Says:

I predict that with all that’s occurred since his capture that Craig’s trial will be relatively short, especially because I predict that Kelly will shed her dilusional shroud and testify against him.

Can anyone find out where his attorney buys his suits, he’s got that going for him.

  12. chainsaw Says:

    Disgusted,

That was exactly what I said when I saw it on Greta. That suit was upscale.

  13. KNEW THEM Says:

HEY GUYS, THIS DOESN’T LOOK GOOD FROM THE BEGINNING WITH CRAIG’S NEW ATTORNEY. SAGGASE. I CAN’T BELIEVE I HEARD HIM SAY THE WORDS “BAD JUDGEMENT”. ALL THIS SOUNDS LIKE TO ME IS HE MIGHT TRY TO WORK A DEAL, LIKE 15 TO 20 FOR CRAIG. I SAY HE AND CRAIG GET INTO IT OVER A PLEA DEAL SAGGASE WANTS AND CRAIG FIRES HIM AND RUNS OUT OF $ AND GOES WITH A PUBLIC DEFENDER.

  14. chainsaw Says:

    Knew them,

I don’t know about that, Saggese looks like someone that really would specialize in trials. He looks like and acts a bit like my cousin who works for a huge lawfirm that defends docters from malpractice, and they give him all the trial suits.

I don’t think that they will offer a Titus deal out here. In las vegas, everyone is looking for prestige. Especially prosecutors. Also it is election season out here right now, unless they do it in the middle of the trial. I’ll make a better determination after I get Mr. Puit’s book.

  15. darkstar Says:

I wouldnt let the fancy suits and all influence your analysis too much…Most lawyers dress the part, but that only goes as far as the courthouse door. Its brains and a sharp legal mind that gets it done. And like someone mentioned above, all that Saggese said in the interview was “good people, bad judgment”, the same thing CT has been saying all along. What else can he say? My client had nothing to do with any of this? The good people, bad judgment statements would seem to me that they will stipulate to some culpability on CTs part. I think if they try and refute all the evidence it will result in Saggese and CT being shredded by the DA.That is unless Saggese can get some of the evidence suppressed…but I wouldnt count on it.

Remember also that the DA has got a ton of resources to put on their case. Saggese is being funded by CT…

Chain you are right about politics being a factor in LV law enforcement…remember the Binion prosecutor was David Roger, who got the conviction against Tabish and Murphy…David Roger went on to become the DA, and David Wall, the other deputy DA who prosecuted the Binion case with Roger is now a judge!

And guess what…on retrial, the murder convictions against Tabish and Murphy were tossed!

  16. Chainsaw Says:

Anyone interested in this case should look at that case too d*. Anything can happen here in this town. Those defendants were not liked as much as CT or more. There are numerous sites about that trial.

  18. darkstar Says:

    chainsaw,

Yes, Binion was a circus. I frankly dont think Nevada v. Titus and Ryan will be anywhere near the spectacle Binion was. Thats probably a good thing. Personally, in the Binion case, I thought the prosecution experts were completely bogus, especially Baden…but like you said, politics in Vegas, including law enforcement, is pretty corrupt. Look at all the elected politicians in LV and Nevada who have been convicted lately on corruption charges: Herrera, Chauncey, not to mention the county clerk I think who was busted for selling county documents…and the corker: Mayor Goodman and the city council voting 4-2 to take a payment of 1 million bux from Jack Galardi in exchange for letting him keep his strip club license!!!
Anything can and will happen in Vegas. It is a treacherous place for the unwary.

    d*

  19. chainsaw Says:

d* Yep, you are right on the money with that one. I don’t think it will be a spectacle either, but Titus and Ryan were so called sports figures out here. I wonder if he had any dealings with anyone on the inside. I bet not, but you never know.

Speaking of goverment officials, I can’t wait till election season is over. I’m tired of hearing all this B.S… This town is full of people from other states looking for the pot of gold under the rainbow.
